When selecting a toothbrush we suggest looking for a soft-bristled brush. This kind is best for removing plaque from between your teeth and has more give than a hard brush has. Brushes with a small-head are preferred because they can better reach all areas of the mouth, including the hard-to-reach back teeth.

An electric toothbrush is the best option. It does a better job of cleaning than a manual one does. Overall, the best toothbrush is one that fits your mouth and allows you to reach all of your teeth easily. We recommend replacing your brush at the first sign of wear or every 3 months, whichever comes first.

Trying to decide which toothpaste to use can be daunting. We recommend using an age-appropriate, flavored fluoride toothpaste for children. For adults, we recommend looking at the benefits that each kind provides and making a selection based on that. If you’d like a brighter, whiter smile, we recommend a whitening toothpaste. There are also special toothpastes made for people who have sensitive teeth.

There is a variety of dental floss on the market, and your personal situation will determine the type you should choose. If you have large gaps, you’ll want to choose thick floss, whereas if you have smaller spacing, you will want smaller, regular floss. Waxed floss is ideal for those who have sensitive teeth. You can decide whether you should get flavored or unflavored floss based on your own personal preference. Floss should glide between your teeth with light resistance. If you are having trouble finding an appropriate floss or want tips on the best flossing techniques, let us know, we’d be glad to help.

We also recommend you always look for the American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval when shopping for dental products.
